Innovation through Improvisation
Beyond being funny, good improvisers are great listeners, supportive team members and people who welcome the unexpected. When faced with challenges, being able to see situations with fresh eyes and think creatively is crucial for individuals and organizations to grow.

The New Post-Recession Traveler: What’s Changed and Where Are We Heading?
Without a doubt, the most recent “Great Recession” and all of its upheavals have impacted the psyche and behavior of American travelers…and that includes sentiments and intentions toward travel. No segment of travelers, or the tourism industry, has been immune to the swiftly changing waters.

Greetings from the Capitol and
best wishes
for a
Happy New Year!

I invite you to start the New Year off right by
attending the 2012 Governor’s Hospitality & Tourism
Conference to be held February 26-28, 2012 at Little
America in Cheyenne. This Conference is an essential one
that everyone involved in Wyoming’s tourism industry
should attend. Like in years past, the agenda will be
jam-packed again this year with programs both valuable
and useful as your business moves forward in 2012.
If you want to hone management skills, learn about the
latest marketing tools, improve your technology
know-how, and hear about the legislative session and the
activities of the state tourism office, you can
accomplish these things and more through this
Conference. The Wyoming Lodging and Restaurant
Association and the Wyoming Office of Tourism, in
cooperation with one another, have put together an
impressive list of speakers and events. The Conference
will be highly informative and also provide a major
venue for connecting with colleagues.
As
we all know, change happens and no two years are alike.
I am optimistic about Wyoming and the year 2012, but
having been in business myself as a rancher I know it is
vital to stay abreast of one’s field in order to
navigate successfully through change. It is important to
plan for growth. It is important to keep pace with
technology. It is important to network with others in
the industry. The strategies and ideas you take away
from the Conference, added to your own, will help your
business meet the changes to come.
I hope you will take advantage of this special
Conference. It is a chance to visit with folks from the
Tourism Office as well as the WLRA staff that serves
you. It is a chance to see your friends in the industry
and make new ones, too. Please register now. It is a distinct pleasure and privilege for us at the
state to work together with you in the tourism industry
to continue to promote Wyoming, a place of unparalleled
beauty and natural wonders. We want as many people as
possible to experience our great state – this
destination without equal that we are blessed to call
home.
I hope to see you at the end of February.
Sincerely,
Matthew H. Mead
